You are a unique individual! No one shares your fingerprints, character and purpose. The Word of God is very specific and clear about this. We read in Ecclesiastes 3:11AMPLIFIED emphasis added:

He [God] has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [ a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy]. . .

You originated from the mind and heart of God! No you are not the result of a prolonged evolution of species nor because of an accidental "parental mishap" some years ago. And yes, it is a simply matter of faith! (Personally I find it much easier and fulfilling to believe in God and creation than in human-centric evolution.)

Long before your parents conceived you, God had a clear and wonderful concept for you! What was God thinking when He created you? He had purpose on His mind.
Use and Abuse
Purpose speaks of the original reason for being. Purpose is in the mind of the manufacturer. Everything made has a specific and clear purpose. A pen's purpose is expressly to write or draw with. A airplane is made to fly. A wheel to roll. Everything, including you, have an original purpose. Unfortunately not all things are used according to its original purpose. A pen can easily become a Q-tip (ear cleaner).

Abuse is a word derived from two words: Abnormal & Use. When we ignore the original purpose of something we always end up abusing that thing; using it abnormally. Similarly, when you ignore your Divine purpose, the reason He created you, you'll almost certainly end up on the abuse side of life. Every action that defies your Creator's plans for you constitutes abuse in your life. Every person influencing  you contrary to God's plans for your life is designating you for abnormal use.

God's plans for your life are tremendous! We read in Jeremiah 29:11:

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not for evil. To give you a hope and a future.

You will do well in life to explore God's plans for your life. To discover the beauty He deposited in you. To find the place in the universe He destined you to fulfill. You do not have to search far to find it. Look within and across. Reach deep inside and not beyond. Identify God's fingerprints in you before you leave your own in the lives of others. Strive towards God's purpose for you before mimic the example of others.

Purpose and Time
You were made to live forever! And you'll never really live until you fulfill your intended purpose. The Lord put eternity in your heart. Your days here on earth was meant for more than mere existence. Use them to step into God's purpose for your life.
