(Written by Dr. Rudi Swanepoel)
The throne of God is by far the most exclusive place in
existence. “The Lord has established His throne in the
heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103:19. It
is exclusively God’s. It’s been occupied since before time.
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.” Psalm 45:6 /
Hebrews 1:8 It’s never been vacant and never will be. The
character of God has always been to give and to share. He
gives eternal life to those who believe in the Person and
personal work of Christ in their lives. He delegates amazing
authority to people. But He will not share His throne! While
we read of many other thrones in the courtrooms of heaven,
occupied by people and angels (See Dan. 7), the throne of
God stays exclusively His.
It is important for believers to understand the meaning and
manifestation of the throne of God in our lives. We should
welcome its presence. In fact, when we experience the
presence of the Lord, His throne is never far. It is much
more than a seat to sit in. It represents authority, power,
rule and dominion. Let’s look at some aspects of the throne
of God:
A Seat of Authority
A throne is the emblem of authority. From the throne
official Kingdom business is ratified, decrees are made and
judgments pronounced. Official audience with the King seated
on the throne represents the highest form of representation
available. In the presence of God there are times of
tremendous intimacy and fellowship but then there are also
moments to appear officially before the throne. These
moments are not for carnality or chit-chat. Your moments
before the throne of God are reserved for purpose, destiny,
worship and judgments.
We read in Ps 89:14
“Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of Your
throne.” Throne-moments ensure the grounding of your life
upon righteousness and justice. They bring a right
perspective and straightness to your being that empowers you
and activate Kingdom principles over you. Your every action,
thought and motive is scrutinized to comply with God’s
precepts. Such moments have an amazing effect on the
Believer. They bring Kingdom balance in a otherwise
unbalanced and broken world.
The Throne is Occupied
Ps 47:8 “God reigns over the nations; God sits upon His holy
throne” Isaiah wrote: “I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the
most holy part of the temple.” Isa. 6:1 Let me remind you
that the throne of God will never be vacant. It cannot be
stolen or He cannot be out muscled or over powered. The
throne is secure and established forever.
Where is the Throne?
A throne is usually located in the throne room of a palace.
We find references in the Bible of such a place in Heaven as
well. Unlike an earthly throne room though, God’s throne is
mobile. It appears wherever God manifests His presence. God
said in Isa. 66:1 “Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My
footstool.” God’s Throne is mobile! It is carried by the
cherubim! The throne is not standing on the ground! (See
Ezek. 1:25-26) The throne is part of the procession of
Heaven. When the Glory of God enters a room tremendous
things happen. In the unseen realm there is angelic
activity, an open heaven, a manifestation of the throne of
God and the awesome presence of God. There is fire, heaven’s
altar, light, worship happening, and more. In Heb. 4:16 we
are encouraged to draw near to the throne of grace with
boldness that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in
good time for every need! How do we draw near? One great way
is to pursue the presence of God in worship. He comes seated
on the throne, carried by the angels into your circumstance
and life. What a tremendous thought!

The Throne brings Divine Judgment
We need the judgments and decrees of God in our lives all
the time. The word, judgment, carries a negative meaning to
many, but when judgment is made in your favor it becomes a
powerful activation of victory, blessing and power! You can
bring your case to God! Whenever the enemy attacks you or
when sickness invades your life. When poverty knocks on your
door or even when you need council to make important life
decisions, present your case to the Lord. He will render a
judgment over your life that will enforce the principles of
the Kingdom in your life. Everything must yield in
accordance to the verdict. You must submit, but so must the
enemy, your circumstances and sickness. As a child of God,
you already submitted your life to Him anyway! What are you
afraid of? You can only win! Your life has been purchased by
the Great Redeemer!
Source of the River of God
We read in Rev. 22:1 “Then he showed me the river whose
water give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the
throne of God and of the Lamb.” Wow! Are you yearning for
life? Thirsty to drink living water? Want to enjoy the River
of life? Well get the throne of God in your life. The river
of refreshing flows from the throne of God. Revival and
refreshing is always connected to the throne of God. Where
God rules, the river flows! Invite the throne of God into
your life and the river of God will flow deep and wide!
Lord, establish Your throne of
glory in our lives today!
